Linda Westerman  Embroidered Textile Artist and Tutor

My own introduction into art and design began when I embarked on the City and Guilds Design and Embroidery Course. This incuded art as a common core subject along with World Embroidery, Heraldry and Ecclesiastical work.

My style of textile art incorporates a wide variety of techniques including machine embroidery, traditional embroidery, and 3D structures.  The work is carried out using wood, strings, wire and weaving techniques.  The majority of threads and fabric used in the work are painted in order to achieve the appropriate colour. 

The image above is an example of on going work using archaeological finds as a source of inspiration.
